Sassy Sissy

Today my sassy girl turns 5!  Her birth story is a pretty typical inductions...I was induced because I tested positive for strep B, so Roy and I went to UBMC at 7am where I got asked lots of questions, IV started, water broke, and had my first set of antibiotics. After all that it was somewhere around 9-9:30 am, I absolutely refused to have pitocen to start my contractions-instead I put a gown on backwards, put on my socks and tennis shoes and we hit up physical therapy where I walked 5-7 miles on the treadmill!  Finally my contractions began-real contractions, the ones that make you lose your breath-yes this was exactly what we wanted to happen!  We then went back to my room so the baby could be monitored and I could then get my second set of antibiotics. By then it was between 12-1, I had decided that I would just go ahead and get an epidural as soon as I was able to because with both my the boys it seemed to help my labor progress faster. Darla (my step mom) showed up around 1:30 and I let the nurse know I was ready for the epi as soon as I could get it.  Well....the anesthesiologist was in surgery and being at a small hospital there is only one...so I did the best I could to relax and breath through the contractions that were steadily coming every 2-3 minutes-I remember sitting up in bed, and telling myself to relax, just relax.  At 4:00 the nurse came in to check me, she said I was dialated to, I believe a 5/6...the monitor wasn't picking up the babies heart rate like it needed to, though, so she decided she was going to stick one on its head...WOW that was painful!  And it the end it still wasn't monitoring baby very well so she took it back off :/ (talk about torture)....At least the anesthesiologist was in the next room giving an epidural and was coming to my room next, finally.  Well as the nurse turned to leave and walked out the door, I had a huge contractions that made me SCREAM out in pain!!  My husband told me to be quiet and quit screaming!  I looked him dead in the eye and said "But you don't understand!"  This baby was coming, I was complete and ready to push, the nurse rushed back in and saw the babies head, she hollered to someone out in the hall that she needed Dr. Nolte NOW!  He had to come from home, but I was not about to have my baby without him.  The nurse told me to push, it was okay to push, it would ease the pain "NO I WANT MY DOCTOR AND I still want my epidural!"  It was far too late for an epidural...I squealed, I squirmed up the bed, I groaned, I cried out for Dr. Nolte....please get here!  There was another Dr standing in the hall ready to assist if the baby was born, but Dr Nolte came on the run, he threw his gloves on, sat on his stool, and said "Okay PUSH!"  I pushed once, okay stop, okay PUSH!  At 4:33 out came my darling, perfect, baby GIRL!  The doctor said "ITS A GIRL!"  Darla said "ITS A GIRL!"   YAHOO, Our first little girl, I cried tears of joy and happiness!  I was absolutely thrilled to have a daughter after two handsome boys.  Kadence Jaycee Perry 7 pounds 1 oz of pure perfection....so pink, pretty, and perfect.  I cannot believe she is 5....where has the time gone.  She has us wrapped around her little finger-especially her daddy's.  She is his 'pretty girl'.
